Imho its the easiest way by far to fit in a GOTEK USB Drive. You can get these pre-fitted for the SY99 (and others) for +/-100€.
Replacement is no challenge, just some screws and one easy to loose connector.
After that you can have all your stuff on a one small usb stick.
I dealed a lot with floppies before, replace the drive belt, search for 2DD Floppies, get some NOS, get an old PC to write/store them and so on. But when I remember how easy it was to replace the floppy with the usb and how easy my file handling now is, I did this much to late.
