What the OP of this thread reminded me of, i experienced today to an extent.
It was a reminder of this particular thread.

Why you should be logged out.

I remember a time not long ago, Espen kraft, (a former member here) had his YT account
hijacked because he remained logged in. His YT account was soon rectified afterwards.

Today I have had the same thing happen to me, only not with YT, instead, my bank account.
There are only two places it could have happened, Bandcamp or Globe Soup writing comp, the only two
international transactions I have made in the last six weeks.
Like Espen, (If my memory is correct, do correct me if I am mistaken)
I left the PC logged in, While I attended to other things.

This is why i believe being logged out is for the safety of the user.
There will be no Christmas for me this year even though I have always
been diligent in my on line transactions and activity.

Being logged out from a website is no issue, it's only a few clicks or taps to log back in again.
Think of the long term consequences. A few seconds of convenience is better than two weeks
with no CC when bills are due. Then take up to six weeks to have the claim investigated and money refunded,
or having the online account hijacked and someone impersonates you.

Keep in mind, while your cookie is active and idle, anyone can jump on for the ride along the way.
If I am correct, Saul mentioned something to this effect in a previous reply.
Don't be complacent, if your finished with a website, log out and clear the cookies on exit.
