I couldn't have put it better myself in what made the band so special, eschewing a guitar driven approach (mostly). So saddened to learn this news just now. I was a fan of Renaissance from the days of "Spare Some Love" and saw them in concert many times back in the 70s, and most recently the "reincarnated version" of the band in 2011 and 2012 at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside PA, not that far from where Annie lives now. As a keyboard player myself, I always felt inspired and challenged by John Tout's virtuosity and as a fan of great music and musicians, I greatly admired Jon Camp's marvelously melodic playing as well as his vocal contributions. Jon's powerful playing along with that of Terry Sullivan drove the band forward in a unique way--not many rock bands are able to do without electric guitar, but Jon made it work! Always felt that Renaissance should have become much bigger than they did. In more recent years was delighted to discover Jon's "Mojo" project and have enjoyed the CD greatly. I wish he could have been involved in the reformed Renaissance, but I can understand that things get complicated and better Renaissance in SOME form than not at all. My sympathies to his family and friends, and of course to Annie and Terry.
