Hey, hey, welcome to the Forum, IncludeBeer!Yes... some... depends...,...I have a question about the auto accompaniment. Are they suitable to play rock and electronic music, say from the 80's to today?
But:Unfortunately the "arranger" category have a bad reputation to sound a little bit cheesy.
Totally agree with Bogdan. Your mileage will vary depending upon the specific style.
I've played rock, soul, R&B and funk with full-up live bands. Other than 50s R&R, the 60s and 70s rock styles leave me wanting. Some of the 60s styles are decent enough to dodge the cheese label. The 70s classic rock, meh.
The latest 80s styles are decent mainly for the specific songs they are designed to emulate. Genos 1, in particular, had some real 80s electro-pop fans making the styles.
The soul and R&B styles sound more pleasing to my ears. The latest R&B styles for Genos 2 are hot, well-played. Look for conversions.
For a more "off the recording" sound, I go with MIDI tracks or even some MP3/WAV commercial backing tracks. It takes away the opportunity for musical interpretation, but sometimes OCD takes over.
This is just one person's opinions
