Yamaha Montage and Montage M Forum • Program change problem with Montage M

Hi,
I am live keyboarder and my live setup until now consists of a Roland Fantom 7 and Montage 7 and an additional rack with a Roland Integra and a Motif XS Rack. In my rig, the Fantom controls via program changes all keyboards/modules.

I recently purchased a Montage M7 and have to admit that I struggeled a long time before the purchase and questioned myself if the small improvements in the new Montage M generation are worth the upgrade. I can tell especially to all live keyboarders that I am really excited by the better user interface, ANX-Sounds, the better Hammond sounds with leslie-effect, additional memory for more libraries and the better overall sound. I migrated from the Montage 7 to the Montage M7 by doing a backup on the original synth and loaded the backup into the Montage M7. Great to see that more or less everything was migrated seamlessly.

BUT : Something changed on the Midi implementation on the Yamaha Montage M7. Unfortunately the Montage M7 does NOT react on the program changes from the Fantom! Fantom and Montage M7 are connected via Midi cable, not USB. Montage M7 is configured to Midi Channel 2 and the Fantom is sending the program change on Midi Channel 2. Therefore I selected under the Montage M7 "Midi I/O" tab the option "Midi" ( and not USB) and configured the "Midi I/O Ch" to Channel 2. Under the "Advanced" tab I enabled the reception of Program Changes. But unfortunately Montage M7 is not reacting on the program changes and switching the Performance when I switch the scenes on my Fantom.

Could anyone please tell me, what I made wrong and what I have to change in the Montage M7 configuration? I would really apreciate this, as I want to take the board onto the stage for a larger show on Saturday.

There a many reasons why I want to keep the Fantom as the setup master changing all other devices (Midi sync, click tracks, keeping Montage and Montage M operational in parallel etc.) so I dont want to send the program changes from Montage M to the rest of the setup.

Thanks in advance for your advice and support!
Cheers

P.S: the Montage M7 has OS 2.10 installed
