Yamaha Montage and Montage M Forum • Re: Unable to get Montage M USB audio connected

I find that I get a better record level when I set the USB Main to +6dB, but I suppose levels may vary with different Performances.
Because many projects begin with MIDI Tracks and then are rendered as Audio in the DAW, you can use several methods to increase output gain for recording audio levels.

What often happens in assembling MIDI Track, you wind up pre-mixing your levels. Say you have several Midi Tracks going, and you overdub some strings, because you intend the strings as background, sitting behind the other instruments, you play them with very little Velocity (because it mixes well with the other tracks). Later when you assign Parts to USB Outputs to render Audio, the strings assigned to a USB Out wind up with a rather weak output level.

Each Part has an individual Output Level.
Select the Part
Press [NAVIGATION] > tap the “2-Band EQ” box > each Part goes through its own OUTPUT LEVEL following this EQ… allowing you adjust and compensate for any MIDI Track recorded at low Velocities. (-12.0/+12.0dB)

If your Audio recording is just the MONTAGE M as a stereo device, the [UTILITY] > “Settings” > “Audio I/O” > USB Main will adjust the entire stereo output.
